Russian Central Bank published results of its own research at cashless payments market. The regulator shows interesting statistics concerning on-line payments in the document under the title “Overview of Russian market’s pay cards. Development tendencies and perspectives”. As it can be seen from the document among Russians’ general cashless payments 9.4% of them are made via internet. For comparison, share of physical body’s non-cash payments by means of plastic cards is 19.4%.Newspaper “Kommersant” got Central Bank’s explanation. In 2007 volume of payments came to 285.2 billion rubles. These are the “payments made by credit organizations based on payment order, given by physical bodies to a credit organization (or its branch) by means of internet”. In comparison to 2006 payments volumes grew by 218.2%. Calculation based on Central Bank’s published shares gives a bit higher rate of 318.3 billion rubles. It doesn’t change the situation much. It seems that one of the fastest growing segments of Russian’s financial sector is internet payments. |
